Trauma Responsive Practice in Education- ACT Government Funded

Trauma Responsive Practice in Education- ACT Government Funded

Introduction

What is the online course about?
These eleven module self-paced anytime learning programs provide an overview of the neurobiology of trauma as well as a framework for effectively responding to children and young people who have experienced trauma. This foundational knowledge program looks at trauma responsive practice for children and young people as they learn and grow. These programs have been developed using the wisdom and background of the highly popular and well-evaluated SMART online training and Making SPACE for Learning Programs that the Foundation has been running for schools and education systems nationally for 20 years.

This training has been contextualised to professionals who work in schools and early years settings. It has practical strategies that support vulnerable students to learn, adapt and grow. It deals with specific behaviours that disrupt students’ capacity to use relationships around them to help them focus, remember, engage socially and process tasks. It will strengthen the skills and confidence of individuals in these contexts to positively respond to students’ trauma based needs and behavioural expressions.
